Eleven of us celebrated Jason’s belated birthday at Five Spices over the weekend. We walked into what looked like a suburban home and were greeted by a friendly waitress who showed us our table in a private dining area.
Five Spices had a cozy homelike ambience, the decor was a mixture of old and new; including stone brick walls, various lighting features, paintings and a fireplace.
We each ordered the $29 or $39 Three- Course Winter Menu (available for dinner Sunday to Thursdays until 30 August), the difference is for $39 you receive a bottle of wine to share between two and a wider dessert selection. To see what was on our menu that night, see the photos below.
In addition to the Three-Course meal, we ordered a dozen of Sydney Rock Oysters served with fried shallots and chilli and lime sauce ($36) to share.
Whilst the house wine was bland, we all really enjoyed the rest of the meal. My personal highlights included the delicious Carrot & Broccoli Soup from the Entree platter, the Blue Swimmer Crab Meat Fried Rice had a generous amount of crab and the range ofexotic ice cream flavours including Thai Basil; Lemongrass; White Chocolate & Sweet Miso and Avocado & Wasabi.
Five Spices provided a wonderful experience with its value for money Three-Course Winter Menu, offering some beautifully presented fusion flavours.
Happy belated birthday Jason, we look forward to trying some of your homemade ice cream!
