A Jamie Night with friends

For Peter and I, one of the great things about being married is that we have our own place where we can invite people over to share our lives and practise hospitality. On Sunday night we invited two of our church friends to our place for dinner – Kelvin & Esta.

We decided to make it a Jamie meal and cooked two Jamie Oliver’s dishes – ‘The Ultimate Onion Soup’ served with garlic bread and ‘Tender & Crisp Chicken Legs with Sweet Tomatoes’ – these recipes are both found in Jamie’s Dinners.

I have made the Chicken Legs dish a number of times, unfortunately on this occasion the chicken wasn’t quite as tender as I would have liked… but nonetheless, we enjoyed the meal as it is not always about food – but the company and conversations that come out of a meal.

After the meal, we enjoyed almond & pistachio nibbles that Esta made and played a game of Ticket to Ride, a strategy board game which has recently become one of my favourites.
