Temasek is a busy Singapore/Malaysian restaurant located in a small arcade next to the Roxy Hotel in Parramatta. This wasn’t our first time here, but on this occasion it was to celebrate Father’s Day with my side of the family. As we had made a booking for five people a day in advance, we were quickly seated in the restaurant decorated with pictures of Singapore and paper dragons.
Here’s what we ordered to celebrate this year’s Father’s Day:
- Garlic King Prawns ($19.80)
- Hainanese Chicken ($19.50 for half a chicken)
- Satay Chicken Skewers ($16.80 for half dozen)
- Mee Goreng ($14.80)
- Roti Canai ($2.20 per piece)
- Chicken Flavoured Rice ($8 per pot)
- Sambal Balacaan French Beans ($17.80)
- Coconut Drink ($3.50)
- Chendol Drink ($5)
There was a lack of wow factor that night at Temasek, perhaps it’s due to the fact that I had high expectations having dined at Mamak only a week beforehand.
The Roti Canai was dense and flat- I much prefered the ones served at Mamak which were soft and fluffy, the Chicken Rice tasted bland, the popular boneless Hainanese Chicken was average that night and I disliked Temesak’s Mee Goreng. The best thing I ordered that night was my Chendol Drink which consisted of palm sugar, red beans, green pandan jelly, coconut milk and crushed ice.
Don’t expect much room to move around as seating is tight and chairs can be back to back with each other.
