Let’s Do Dessert 2014: Shangri-La

letsdodessert3There’s only a couple of days left of October, but I thought I’d try to get this post in before Good Food Month is officially over.

I generally only go to one Let’s Do Dessert event each year… mainly due to poor planning but also because the cost adds up quite quickly!

Peter and I went to the Shangri-La over the weekend, after managing to get a last-minute booking half-an-hour before the seating. #winning!

For $20 we were presented Berry, Chocolate, Marshmallow, Meringue and a glass of Yalumba FSW8B Botrytis Viognier.letsdodessertI didn’t know where to begin as the dessert looked like a piece of artwork. I think I started from the stringy berry marshmallow then took a bite of the crunchy meringue and then I carefully placed my spoon into the paddle pop which revealed a cream filling.

letsdodessert2I loved that the dessert wasn’t too rich or sweet and that there were many textures and flavours to look forward to – including a piece of minty white chocolate hidden at the centre of the paddle pop. While I savoured every bite, my favourite part was squishing the berry-liquid-centre pearls in my mouth. It was a fun and exciting dessert to eat 🙂
